Staying the Course
I, Sherrie Porter, pledge to partner with my doctor who specializes in integrative medicine - a Wellness Doctor - to find a cure for my late stage Lyme Disease that can be mainstreamed and accepted in the medical community. I pledge that if mainstream medicine refuses to embrace a cure, that I will fight tooth and nail the forces that be that stand in the way of our constitutional and fundamental right to health, even if those that stand in opposition are elected officials and government agencies. I pledge to help educate the masses until they elect officials with integrity and put in place agencies that put the best interests of the people FIRST, not just for Lyme patients but the health of my fellow countrymen, PERIOD. I pledge to oppose “pharmco” if greed is proven to be holding back cures in favor of maintaining levels of illness to increase profits, and to reveal that greed at every opportunity. I may not have much energy, but when I do, I pledge to be a force to be reckoned with!

“Walk for those that can’t walk. Run for those who wish they could. Fight for those who can’t fight. Scream for those who wish for a voice. Hope for those who are hopeless. Dream for those who wish they had sight. Love for those who will never know what love is. Love them too. Forgive for those who will never learn to forgive. Forgive them too. Breathe for those who struggle for air. Stand for those that can’t. Believe for the ones who doubt. Live for those that never had a chance to.
And never take it for granted.”

I pledge…
To find the reason for this illness, to turn it around to a blessing, I want to help others in this fight and to encourage and love others thru my struggle if it can help one person I will feel blessed. I am going to try and be a positive exammple in the tough fight and to advocate as much as I can thru education to the public and help my fellow lyme friends thru their difficult times as they help me thru mine. I will not harm myself in anyway as this illness will not consume my life it only will hinder it. May we all keep the faith and encourage, love and support each other.

To Remember, if the Pit of Despair ever swallows me again
that it does matter, it will matter to friends, family, neighbors, community, online- and telephone-friends and community, if I am alive or not. And that the same is true for all of us.
I pledge that even if it seems I have lost, will lose, am losing, will continue to lose everything or everyone that matters to me, that it is not really so. That there will always be people who love me, and that I have something valuable to offer those I love, no matter how useless I may feel.
And even though I’ve been abandoned by some I thought were my family, who would stay with me for our natural lives, that there are new people to meet and to love, that I can go on without them.
I pledge to remind others who feel suicidal that it won’t last, and that I’ve been there, too, and that YES, it does matter to me and to others that they are alive. That we DO CARE if they live or die. That we are NOT better off with them dead.
And I pledge to remember this, too, if the bugs ever eat my brain again to the point where I lose myself, and to tell others I feel this way and ask for their reassurance that my life does matter.

grieving with you, holding a vision of new possibility
to be someone you can grieve with, for the losses that can never be redeemed, the lost time or lost pleasures or lost friendships or lost trust in life, even if and when you heal. and i pledge to hold out hope for that healing. and to hold out the possibility that our lives can be remade with a deeper vision and understanding from this pain we go through.

I will not give up or give in to Lyme Ignorance.
I, Allison Caruana, hereby promise to serve the Lyme communities by bringing to light the injustices we deal with on a daily basic. I promises to educate as many in my town and in my state. I promise to push lawmakers to to protect the rights of the doctors who treat us, and the patients who are in need of treatment. I will not stop until my last breath on this earth. This is my promise to my Lyme friends, and to those with Lyme I have yet to come to know. May God bless and honor our prayers for justice and health on 2011 and the many years to come.
Much love,
Allison Caruana

Shari Blanchard I used to keep a journal more often during the peak of my acute Lyme infection- before being correctly diagnosed. I noticed the other day while reading it over, that I would try to write about the desperation and bewilderment over being obviously ill (and yet not understanding what it was)-. but would always bring it back to affirmations of hope within a paragraph or two.
Like I didn’t want to write anything too negative yet wanted to get the message written down that something outside of the medical’s understanding was happening to me:POctober 19 at 3:49pm · · 1 person

I make the pledge to never give up, keep believing there will be a cure or miracle one day very soon! To try my hardest to be there when someone is going through a bad day with this horrific disease and to keep praying for them which is all I can do sometimes . Hope, Hope, Hope! Never ever give up!

Things will happen in your life that you can’t stop, but that’s no reason to shut out the world. There’s a purpose for the good and for the bad.” - Crazy Pete
Love yourself equally on your good and days of despair. Repeat, repeat if necessary. ♥
First 911 call today in 2 years of being sick and the paramedic took me to the ER. Tremors so bad with heart palpitations. Checked out okay but still experiencing severe herxing. I will get through this because I always remember my good days. Peace. Love. ♥-from Susan Wick Braswell on http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=149380631771970

I make the pledge to keep hoping even when all seems consumed in hopelessness. To support the sufferers of lyme around me. And, to not let this illness stop me from succeeeding. I pledge to just hold on not just for me, but my family, the friends that have supported me, and the new Lyme friends I’m making. Living is the hard part, but we are strong enough to make it! ♥
